Stable and barn alarms →Wired intruder alarm
A wired (hardwired) intruder alarm is the most robust choice for many homes and most businesses. We design every system around the building, so there are no blind spots. When the alarm is set, any intrusion triggers it and notifies the central monitoring station within seconds. You can also set designated areas to chime, alerting you without triggering a full alarm. That’s useful for a back door or a garage during the day.
Typical Features:
- Orisec control panels with LCD or touchscreen keypads and multiple user codes, so everyone in the household or business has their own code
- Passive infrared detectors (PIRs) and door contacts placed to suit your property
- Pet-friendly detectors that tell the difference between pets and people, and only signal an alarm when they should
- An external bell box with siren and strobes, and an internal sounder
- Event memory, so the master code holder can see the time and date of every incident. We can even post you a monthly printout.
- Tag readers and radio remotes for quick setting and unsetting
- Upload and download: most adjustments can be made remotely from our office, often without a visit
Wireless intruder alarms
Our wireless alarm systems give you the same protection with almost no cabling. Secure transmission, long battery life and well-designed detectors make the installation quick, tidy and virtually wire-free. That makes wireless ideal for:
- Period and listed homes, where you don’t want cables chased into plaster or run along cornices
- Newly decorated homes, where lifting floors or carpets isn’t an option
- Outbuildings, garages and annexes that would be difficult to cable to
- Rented properties, where you want minimal disruption

Can I mix both?
Yes. A hybrid system uses wired sensors where cabling is easy and wireless where it isn’t, so you get the best of both.

Control your alarm from your phone
Add our optional app control module and you can set, unset and check your alarm from your phone, wherever you are. You can see if someone forgot to set it and be alerted if it goes off. Landlords and business owners can also manage the system without being on site. Many customers add CCTV too, so they can see what’s happening as well.
Police-monitored alarms and 24-hour monitoring
We strongly recommend connecting your alarm to the police through Southern Monitoring Services, which provides a vital link to your system 24 hours a day.
How police response works: for the police to respond to an alarm, it has to be installed and maintained by a company certified by a recognised inspectorate such as SSAIB, which we are, monitored by an alarm receiving centre, and registered with the local police force, which issues a Unique Reference Number (URN). The force depends on where you are:

Southern Monitoring watches your system around the clock for intruder activations, panic and distress alarms, and smoke detection. BT Redcare also monitors the signalling line, so if the line is cut, Southern Monitoring knows within seconds and takes action. For many businesses, this level of monitoring is a requirement of their insurance.
Stable and barn alarms
Over two decades we’ve built a real specialism in stable and barn security. Tack, saddlery, trailers and machinery are valuable and easy to sell on, and rural yards are often out of sight of the house. We design tailor-made systems for equine and agricultural buildings, combining alarms, entry systems and security lighting.
From your first visit through to installation, our team will give you a detailed quote and specification to suit your yard. Wireless detectors are often the best fit for outbuildings, and app control lets you know the moment a tack room or barn door is opened. Intruder Alarm Installation
