Guildford homes and businesses: what we see most
Guildford has a real mix of properties, and each needs a slightly different approach.
Period homes in and around the town centre
Older buildings near the High Street and Castle area often have thick walls, awkward loft spaces and decorative features owners don’t want disturbed. We usually recommend wireless alarm systems here: no chasing cables into plaster, and sensors placed discreetly.
Wireless alarms →1930s semis and family homes in Merrow, Burpham and Stoughton
Typically a wired or hybrid intruder alarm with pet-friendly sensors, a smart doorbell and a camera covering the driveway and side access, which is where most break-ins start.
Burglar alarms →Student lets and HMOs near the University of Surrey
With tenants changing every year, landlords need multiple user codes that can be changed remotely, app control, and door entry that doesn’t rely on handing out keys.
Door entry and access control →Business and research units
At Slyfield Industrial Estate and Surrey Research Park: monitored intruder alarms, Paxton access control so you can add or cancel staff fobs in seconds, and Axis CCTV for yards and entrances.

Burglar and intruder alarms
Wired, wireless or hybrid, pet-friendly, with optional app control.
Burglar alarms →CCTV
Clear day and night footage, viewable on your phone, installed by Axis Communications installers.
CCTV →Access control and door entry
Paxton-approved systems for offices, blocks of flats and HMOs.
Access control →Electric gates
Gate Safe certified installation for driveways and business premises.
Electric gates →Police-monitored alarms and burglary in Guildford
Guildford is covered by Surrey Police. For an alarm to receive a police response, it must be installed and maintained by a company certified by a recognised inspectorate such as SSAIB, which we are. It must also be registered with the force for a Unique Reference Number (URN).
We handle that for you, connecting your system to Southern Monitoring Services with BT Redcare signalling, so an activation is verified and passed on 24 hours a day.
Burglary in Guildford
Police.uk recorded 75 burglaries within a mile of Guildford town centre in the 12 months from August 2025 to July 2026 (source: police.uk). That’s around six a month, in streets such as Bridge Street, Tunsgate and Brodie Road.
A visible, professionally installed alarm and CCTV system is one of the most effective deterrents. Most burglars look for an easy target and move on when they see one.

Guildford security FAQs
I let a property to students near the university. What alarm is best?
A system with app control and multiple user codes, so you can issue and cancel codes between tenancies without visiting, and see if the alarm is left unset. Door entry or keyless access removes the problem of unreturned keys.
Can you fit an alarm in an older property without damaging the walls?
Yes. Wireless systems need very little cabling, and we position sensors and the external bell box to suit the building.
Will the police respond to my alarm?
Monitored alarms installed by an SSAIB-certified company can be registered with Surrey Police for a police response. We’ll explain the options and costs during your quote.
How quickly can you get to Guildford?
We’re based in Mytchett, around 20 minutes away, so surveys, installations and call-outs are easy to arrange.

Highly Recommended – Prompt, Professional and a Trusted Local Business.
We have been a customer of Thames Valley Securitek for 15 years when they initially installed our alarm system. We have recently upgraded our system and the team advised on how best to do this utilising as much of the existing structure as possible to save costs. They provided a competitive quote and carried out the work promptly, without any fuss and with professionalism. They are quick to respond to any queries and I would highly recommended their services. It’s great to be able to use and support a local business.

Intruder Alarm Installation
We were recommended TVS by a friend who had recently had a new alarm fitted. We wanted a company who would work with us and our builders during a refurb. TVS were great, they liaised with the builder throughout and fitted our alarm how we wanted it to be fitted so it blended in with our new improvements. To be able to pick up the phone and talk to an engineer within minutes was a very valuable Service they provided for us and our builder. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They were professional throughout and a pleasure to have in our home.
