Electric gates for homes and businesses
Homes and driveways
Move your first line of defence to the edge of your property, so you, your children and your pets feel secure inside your own boundary. Open and close from the car at the press of a button.
Swing or sliding? →Businesses and yards
Secure entrances, yards and car parks with automated gates that only open for the people you choose, using remotes, keypads, fobs or an intercom.
Remote and intercom control →Installed safely
We’re Gate Safe certified, so your gates are installed with the safety devices that stop them if a person, pet or car is in the way.
Gate safety →Why fit electric gates?
A gate at the entrance to your property doesn’t just look good and add value to your home. It moves your first line of defence to the perimeter, so you, your children and even your pets can feel secure within your own boundary.
Electric gates also save you time and hassle. No more getting out of the car to open heavy gates in bad weather or in the dark: just stay in your seat and press a button.
We supply, fit and install high-quality electric and automated gates for homes and businesses, in metal or wood, and sliding or swinging to suit your entrance.

Metal or wooden gates?
Metal gates
A wrought iron gate is strong, secure and highly durable, and blends in with its surroundings to match almost any style of driveway or garden. Metal gates are also usually less expensive than wooden gates and need less maintenance.
Wooden gates
Wooden gates give your home a warmer, softer and more natural look, and no two are the same. A close-boarded gate gives you privacy you won’t get from an iron gate, and the hardwood gates we supply are strong and durable.

Swing or sliding gates?
Swing gates
- How they open
- Open inwards on hinges, as a single gate or a pair
- Best for
- Level driveways with room behind the gates for them to swing open
- Look
- The traditional look for homes, in metal or wood
Sliding gates
- How they open
- Slide sideways along the boundary, behind the wall or fence
- Best for
- Short or sloping driveways, and wide entrances such as yards and car parks
- Look
- Clean and modern, with no swing space needed
Not sure which suits your entrance? We’ll look at the space, the slope and how you use it when we visit for your free quote.
Remote control, intercoms and access
Every electric gate is only as useful as the way you open it. We can set yours up with:
- Remote controls to open and close the gates from your car
- Keypads, fobs and cards for family, staff or regular visitors
- Audio or video intercoms at the gate, so you can see and speak to visitors before letting them in
- Phone-based entry: the latest systems let a visitor at the gate call your phone, anywhere in the world, and you can open the gate from there
Because we also install access control and door entry, CCTV and burglar alarms, your gates can be planned with the rest of your security, from one company.

Gate safety: why a Gate Safe installer matters
Automated gates are heavy, powerful machines. Fitted badly, they can trap or injure people, especially children and pets. That’s why we’re Gate Safe certified: Gate Safe is the UK’s gate safety charity, and its training covers how to install automated gates safely.
A safely installed electric gate should include:
- Safety devices such as photocells and safety edges, which stop or reverse the gate if something is in its way
- Correctly set force and speed, so the gate can’t crush
- Clear warning signs and a way to open the gate by hand if needed
If you’re thinking of automating your entrance, choosing a Gate Safe certified installer is the simplest way to know it’s been done properly.
Do I need planning permission for electric gates?
Many driveway gates don’t need planning permission, but some do. In England you’ll usually need to apply if:
- the gates (or gates and wall) will be over 1 metre high next to a road used by vehicles, or over 2 metres elsewhere
- the property is a listed building, which also needs listed building consent
- the property is in a conservation area or has had its permitted development rights removed
This is common in historic towns such as Farnham and Windsor. The rules can change and every property is different, so always check with your local council before work starts.

Highly Recommended – Prompt, Professional and a Trusted Local Business.
We have been a customer of Thames Valley Securitek for 15 years when they initially installed our alarm system. We have recently upgraded our system and the team advised on how best to do this utilising as much of the existing structure as possible to save costs. They provided a competitive quote and carried out the work promptly, without any fuss and with professionalism. They are quick to respond to any queries and I would highly recommended their services. It’s great to be able to use and support a local business.

Intruder Alarm Installation
We were recommended TVS by a friend who had recently had a new alarm fitted. We wanted a company who would work with us and our builders during a refurb. TVS were great, they liaised with the builder throughout and fitted our alarm how we wanted it to be fitted so it blended in with our new improvements. To be able to pick up the phone and talk to an engineer within minutes was a very valuable Service they provided for us and our builder. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They were professional throughout and a pleasure to have in our home.
